Robin Carnes is a leader in bringing evidence-based yoga and meditation practice into mainstream settings such as the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, Manhattan College, and Blackboard, Inc.
From 2006-2012, Robin was the yoga and meditation instructor for a DOD acute PTSD program at Walter Reed Medical Center. Out of this work, she co-founded Warriors at Ease, a non-profit which has trained 1200+ yoga teachers to teach safely and effectively in military communities. Robin trains healthcare providers in using mind-body tools in their work with patients, and has lectured internationally on Mind-Body approaches to mental health and stress conditions.
Robin’s work has been featured in The Washington Post, Woman’s Day Magazine, Huffington Post, Yoga Journal and Army Magazine, as well as the award-winning documentary, Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue America’s Healthcare.
In 2013, Robin was honored by the Smithsonian Institution for her pioneering work in bringing yoga to military communities. She is a Certified Yoga Therapist and an iRest Meditation Senior Teacher and Trainer.
Robin lives in Silver Spring, MD and loves to volunteer with her therapy dog, Otis, at schools and libraries. And she is a singer in a ‘60s-‘80s cover band, Close Enough.
