Kate Dahlstedt is a licensed psychotherapist with a master’s degree in clinical psychology, as well as post-graduate certification from the Hartford Family Institute. She has maintained a private practice working with individuals and families for over 30 years, and is an experienced group leader. Kate also provides consultation, training, supervision, and advanced education to other professionals and clergy, organizations, communities, and colleges.

In 2006, Kate co-founded the nonprofit organization Soldier’s Heart, a healing initiative for veterans, with her husband Dr. Ed Tick. Together, they created the Soldier’s Heart Model, which they continue to shape and adapt.

In 2011, Kate created the Soldier’s Heart “Women and War” project. Through teleconferencing, Kate connected women from around the country, offering support and the opportunity to share the impact of war on their lives. Kate also co-leads intensive four-day veteran healing retreats around the country.

In addition, Kate the author of several published poems, essays, journal articles, and anthology chapters, as well as her recently published book, Lessons From the Garden, Selected Poems and Essays.
